About Alessia
Hi! I’m Alessia Morrell, a Registered Psychotherapist in Guelph, Ontario, and the heart and brains behind Authentic Minds. I’m a music-loving, craft-making, certified goofball who can turn even the dullest day into a laugh. I read psychology books for fun (yes, really), despise winter with a passion, and am pretty sure I could beat anyone in Friends trivia—could I BE any more competitive?
With over 15 years in the mental health field, I offer both professional expertise and personal understanding. Growing up with law enforcement in my family has given me rare insight into the unique challenges first responders face— from the stigma around seeking help to the impact of chronic trauma exposure and workplace politics.
My own journey with anxiety, chronic illness, and pain has fostered deep empathy for those navigating the medical system, facing stigma, and overcoming the many other obstacles these conditions bring.

My Approach

I take a biopsychosocial approach to healing. I believe true wellness comes from tending to both the mind and the body. Grounded in compassion, authenticity, and a strong sense of safety, my work focuses on equipping clients with practical, evidence-based strategies that address their concerns while building lasting resilience.

A large part of my approach is education—I love teaching clients and professionals about what’s happening in their brain and body. Whether it’s understanding what the brain does during a trigger or how eye movements can help process emotions, I believe knowledge is power. When you understand the neuroscience behind your experiences, it can reduce fear and self-blame, increase self-compassion, and give you useful tools to work with your brain rather than fight against it. Lets create meaningful change that feels both empowering, and sustainable. You're worth it!
