Alessia Morrell, MA
Registered Psychotherapist

Having over 10 years of experience in the mental health field in a variety of geographical locations and settings has given me a solid foundation of understanding diverse backgrounds and struggles. In addition, having law enforcement in my immediate family has afforded me a unique perspective into the stigma of therapy, the chronic exposure to trauma and the stoicism the field requires.

My experience with anxiety and chronic illness and pain has allowed me to understand first hand the complex struggles that often occur along with these conditions. I therefore use both my personal and professional experience to inform my work with clients.

Areas of Focus:

Anxiety, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Phobias, Addictions, Domestic Violence, Chronic Illness and Pain, First Responders, Relationships, Trauma, Self-esteem and Self-worth, Stress, Communication, Infidelity, relational conflict, boundaries and more!

Therapeutic Modalities:

Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness practices, Compassion focused therapy, and Polyvagal Theory.

How can I help?

I help clients discover their internal resources and strengthen resilience. I provide strategies that support emotion regulation, calm difficult nervous system responses, and address unhelpful narratives. I support clients to increase self-awareness, challenge unhelpful thinking, identify and shift negative core beliefs and aid with identifying important connections from their past. I also follow a mind-body approach to ensure that both areas are healing congruently.
